What this tool does — and what it doesn't
Passport and visa photos have to be an exact physical size, and that size differs by country. This tool crops your photo to the correct proportion and saves it at the right pixel dimensions for printing, so it comes out the size your application requires. Pick your country's preset, position the box over the face, and download.
It handles the sizing only. Official photos also have rules about the background, how much of the frame the head fills, your expression, lighting, glasses, and more — and those vary by country. This tool doesn't check any of that. Think of it as getting the dimensions exactly right; meeting the other requirements is up to you. When in doubt, check your government's official guidance before submitting or printing.
The common sizes
- US / India — 2×2 inches (51×51 mm): a square photo, output at 600×600 pixels.
- UK / EU / Australia — 35×45 mm: the most widely used international size, output at 413×531 pixels.
- Schengen visa — 35×45 mm: the same proportion, used across Schengen-area applications.
- Canada — 50×70 mm: a taller format, output at 590×826 pixels.
- China visa — 33×48 mm: output at 390×567 pixels.
Each preset outputs at 300 DPI, the standard resolution for printing, so the photo stays crisp at its physical size.
Printing your photo
The download is a single correctly-sized photo. To print it at home or at a lab, you can place it on standard photo paper — many people fit several copies on a 4×6 print to save money. Because the pixel dimensions are already correct for the physical size, the photo won't be stretched or squashed when printed at the intended size.
Your photo stays private
As with every tool here, the cropping happens entirely in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded to any server — which matters for something as personal as an identity photo.
